"Deep Down inside, you know the truth, the truth is that you can do this. The truth is that if you give 100%, you'd get 100%. The truth is that it's all up to you."
The quote above is a statement that speaks power into existence, your will power. For the longest time, I've sat back and observed the women around me, women that vary from friendships to women in my immediate family and women I don’t know with a look, one can sense the dark cloud of unhappiness. As women, we spend so much time pleasing others that we've almost become numb to pleasing ourselves, and being unhappy; a common trend that I've noticed when it comes to relationships in many forms.
We spend so much time trying to fit specific molds, "the norms" reality is that maybe we aren't constructed to fit the molds, and it doesn’t make us any less of a woman, we are all different. Fact of the matter is that it is important to know and understand your self-worth, know, understand and respect your morals. Understanding your likes, dislikes, knowing your purpose and pursing your why will always bring forth joy and fulfillment. Keeping in mind the work of Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck, we have to keep in mind the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Triangle. The Cognitive triangle was created to depict how our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all interconnected with each other, and influence one another. Therefore, you can change or at least influence one by changing the other.
Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game. Edmund Lee said it best, "surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it in yourself."
